Mijn cultuur en de ander – cultuursensitief denken en handelen in de zorg
Just as fish have water, humans have culture. Fish see water as a safe place that is so natural that they are not aware of it until they are taken out of the water. When you encounter another culture, you become more aware of your own culture.
Are you a healthcare provider and do you want to learn how to strengthen your own culturally sensitive actions? Do you sometimes wonder if you might be overlooking something or do you sometimes experience discomfort in a conversation with someone from a different cultural background? Then follow this unique e-learning, especially for spiritual caregivers.
Culture is not just about ethnicity. People of different ages, lifestyles, social experiences and gender identities develop their own cultural norms and customs. Every encounter brings an opportunity to learn, consciously or unconsciously. This learning process influences your behavior, it changes you.
This e-learning is designed to help you as a healthcare provider learn more about the importance of cultural sensitivity when dealing with life and existential questions of people with a migration background, especially those with a non-Western cultural background.
This e-learning consists of 4 modules:
- Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and Appreciating Differences
- Spirituality and Religion: The First Steps to Awareness
- Connection through Understanding: Communication, Rituals and Customs
- Fair care with the heart
Each module takes about 20 minutes and consists of a theory block, a number of videos, an assignment and quiz questions. We work with practical examples and give you practical tools that you can apply immediately.
